AI lunge analysis from one camera.

Red Piste uses AI body tracking to follow your hand and hip through every lunge, measures the speed in real units, and shows how you improve session by session.

Runs offline on a laptop. Made by a fencer, for fencers.

Example data
2 m · what it measures

Four numbers per lunge

Each lunge is found automatically. You get its peak speeds, how long it took and how far you travelled, in real meters.

Hand peak
-m/s

The fastest the weapon hand moves. This is the speed the opponent has to react to.

Hip peak
-m/s

How hard the body drives off the back leg. A quick hand with a slow hip is only an arm.

Time
-s

From the first movement to the end of the extension.

Distance
-m

How far the hand travels, so you can compare lunges of different length fairly.

How it is measured: a depth camera finds the wrist and hip in every picture, about 30 times a second, and knows how far away you are, so it can turn pixels into meters. Speed is the distance moved between pictures divided by the time between them. Tracking glitches are filtered out and counted, so a jumpy reading does not become a fake record.

Lunges are grouped into sessions of five. Each fencer has their own history, so the chart is about you, not the club average.

About the AI

The tracking is a neural network that finds your joints in each camera picture. The on-guard guide is a statistical formula fitted to recordings of real fencers, matched to your height and proportions. It shows what good fencers of your build tend to do. It isn't a substitute for your coach.

13 m · who it is for

For the coach and the fencer

Coaches

  • Numbers to point at. Show a fencer their hip lagging their hand, in meters per second.
  • One profile per fencer. Bodies are measured once, and every lunge is filed under the right name.
  • Progress you can prove. Session averages and bests, over weeks.

Fencers

  • Practice alone. No partner or coach needed to know how a lunge went.
  • See what to fix first. The weakest check is always at the top.
  • Beat your own record. Your best hand and hip speeds are always on screen.
